(1/3) Imagine Cup 2009 Interoperability Award finalists: First place Proativa Team from Brazil

Proativa Team from Brazil won the Imagine Cup 2009 Interoperability Award(*) with their project ProLearning:

“ProLearning is designed to maximize the experience of distance learning. It’s composed by an immersive virtual reality environment, where students exchange experience and study together. This environment makes easier the interaction between tutor and pupils, so teachers can give proper feedback to students. ProLearning also offers a social network application, stimulating socialization and interaction of students and providing education process’ important aspects unavailable on distance learning environments, as the perception your pairs development and the ability of sharing your knowledge. Finally, ProLearning has the Mobile module, providing a personalized and automatically updated schedule for the student, indicating and alerting on proper time the activities to be done by the student on his distance learning courses. Optionally, the student is able to see the status of his friends in some particular activity, and realize a VoIP call to get some help. Templated SMS messages can also be sent in this module to friends and teachers.”

(3/3) Imagine Cup 2009 Interoperability Award finalists: third place ECRAM from Jordan

ECRAM from Jordan got third place at the Imagine Cup 2009 Interoperability Award(*) with their project Elder Children Remote Application For Mobile:

“Elder Children Remote Application For Mobile(ECRAM) is an intelligent server/client application that uses any communication medium to control mobile from another one for : Making Call Locate Position Sending SMS Etc.”

Fteams from Poland got second at the Imagine Cup 2009 Interoperability Award(*) with their project eduko:

“Eduko is a system, which main goal is to ensure easy and universal education in the less developed parts of the world. New technologies and cheap ways of sending information, like SMS or MMS, enable teachers to reach those pupils for whom education was an unavailable privilege. What is more our virtual board system gives teacher opportunity to interact with pupils who are far away. The only boundary is his imagination.”

Imagine Cup Winners Announced

The Imagine Cup winners have been announced and Team SOAK from Australia (David Burela, Dimaz Pramudya, Ed Hooper, and Long Zheng) pulled out the win in the competitive Software Design Invitationals.

Imagine Cup 2007 Korea Finals: Walking and Talking with Joe

The Imagine Cup finals are happening and we're in Soeul, Korea to cover the event for Channels 8 and 9. Most of the video coverage can be seen (in near real-time) on Channel 8 so please check it out!

Here, our good friend Joe Wilson, Director of Academic Evangelism and grand poobah of the Imagine Cup, walks us around on a tour of the scene and introduces us to each of the competion categories.

Imagine Cup 2006: Reflecting on the Experience, Looking towards the Future

A few weeks ago, Channel 9 was fortunate enough to be present at the Imagine Cup Innovation Accelerator "finals". Six of the top teams from the 2006 competition spent two weeks together learning about choices available to them for taking their ideas, and they are great ideas, to the next level (or just another level).

In this video, we chat with the students, not as teams or representatives of nations, but as people; people who have spent over 18 months competing against one another, learning together, helping one another, winning together. The Imagine Cup is much more than a competition.

Tune in and learn from the students as they reflect on their Imagine Cup experience and share how they plan to extend their dreams to the real world, which is the point of the Imagine Cup: Using software to help make the world a better place.

For two weeks, these 6 teams were provided with extensive training focusing on how to take their applications to the next level: to market. This two week "event" is known as Innovation Accelerator and the purpose is to help teams understand and develop a business plan (of course, not all teams plan to "sell" their applications, but all of them were excited to learn about how to present their innovations in a way that will appeal to business folks, like, you know, venture capitalists and the like).

What happens when you attach more than one mouse to a single computer? You share a single cursor, of course. Well, not if you have the new MultiPoint technology announced today

Here, we dig into what MultiPoint is, how it works and why we created this new technology with some of the folks behind it: Sherri Bealkowski, General Manager, Ravi Soin, Product Unit Manager and Jed Rose, Product Manager.

MultiPoint will have a tremendous impact on education and developers will be able to create innovative applications using MultiPoint technology starting in January with the release of the MultiPoint SDK (Alpha). The potential of this new technology is huge.
