What is it?
Visual Studio tools for Mobile Development allow you to program for Microsoft Windows devices. It provides a familiar development environment, the Compact Framework based on .NET Framework as well as Device Emulators & Setup Package Tools.

Speaking from his many years of experience, he discusses how to deal with architecture level issues such as selection of the right type of mobile applications, web vs. client, usability on mobile devices, support for globalization and localization, security and data management, and mobile application deployment and subsequent updates. It is important, as he points out, that architects and developers always plan ahead with these big issues rather than dealing with them down the road.

Partner Conference: CRM Mobility with CWR

Another Dynamics CRM ISV that caught my attention at last week's Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference was CWR Mobility. Mobility is something I spend a lot of time thinking about and the Windows Mobile solution that CWR has put together is state-of-the-art when it comes to line-of-business apps on the go. What really got my attention was the inventive way they managed to embed it into the Dynamics CRM Online infrastructure. From an end-user perspective all you have to do is sign up for their service and they take care of all the hard work by reaching out across the cloud and installing and configuring the app. Nice!

Cepa Mobility: CepaCom Demo

While in Copenhagen, Denmark recently I had the pleasure to meet and chat with Niels Virring Martensen and Per Rasmussen of Cepa Mobility, a small company dedicated to making mobile products for people with Disabilities. Niels is the managing director and Per is the lead software developer/architect. Per is disabled and with one hand (via a joystick on his wheelchair) he is able to produce the great code that runs CepaCom.

The different "modules" can be purchased seperately. If you only need the Speech Machine and Media Player, this is what you pay for and recieve.

It was an honor a pleasure to meet such innovative and capable people. They are doing great things at Cepa and really changing the world for people with disabilities by producing software and systems that enable independence and communication freedom.
