Descry, data and information visualization

The MIX Online team has released their latest issue covering the topic of data and information visualization. Along with two articles on building infographics and future thinking around visualization, the issue includes a lab named Descry consisting of four visualizations: The Obesity Epidemic, Their First Words, A Website Names Desire and Social Timeline. In this video, Nishant Kothary and Hans Hugli explain the thought process and the work behind creating Descry.

Exploring Time and Space with Infragistics

Jason Beres takes us on a journey through time and space using the new Timeline, Map and Zoombar controls from Infragistics.

The Timeline and Zoombar make an interesting pair when combined with two sets of historical data. I also like the point Jason makes about how this all done with client-side Silverlight, so the response time is really quick without a page refresh.
