What’s in the VS ‘Orcas’ June CTP Refresh?

*There are NO changes to Cider in this Refresh. The functionality is identical to that in the original June CTP that we released last month. The only changes in the Refresh are related to bug fixes for Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) development tools.

If I already have the June CTP, do I have to reinstall the June CTP Refresh?

*NO. If you’re primarily using the VS ‘Orcas’ ""CTPs"" for WPF development, then upgrading won’t provide you with any additional functionality. However if you are doing WCF development, it’s likely in your best interest to reinstall the Refresh because is contains some critical updates for people working with WCF tools.

What if I don’t already have the June CTP installed?

*If you are using a previous CTP of VS ‘Orcas’, then we highly recommend that you to upgrade to the latest CTP. The June CTP will provide improved XAML Load support and other bug fixes that will improve your overall experience while using Cider.

Will a Visual Studio Code Name 'Orcas' July CTP be released to match the .Net Framework 3.0 July CTP?

*There will be NO VS Code Name ‘Orcas’ July CTP. The .Net Framework 3.0 July CTP is primarily targeted at enabling some new scenarios for ""Windows CardSpace"" customers. So we (Cider Team) decided to continue to work with the WPF team here at Microsoft to focus on features that will appear in future ""CTPs"". The combination of updates to both WPF and Cider in future ""CTPs"" will provide much more value for Cider customers to upgrade, so we will continue to focus our efforts there.

Will the June CTP Refresh be compatible with the .Net Framework 3.0 July CTP?

*NO. You must always use matching releases of VS Code Name 'Orcas' and .Net Framework 3.0 ""CTPs"". The VS June CTP Refresh is indeed an update, but it is still based on the .Net Framework 3.0 June CTP platform. The VS June CTP Refresh installer will block if you try to install it on top of anything other than the .Net Framework 3.0 June CTP.

If I decide to reinstall the June CTP Refresh, what should I do?

Uninstall the June CTP
*Before you reinstall the June CTP Refresh please make sure you uninstall the June CTP or any previous Cider ""CTPs"".

Install the June CTP Refresh
* Visual Studio Code Name 'Orcas' June CTP Refresh (which includes Cider)
