4/30/07 5:26 PM PST There is a bug in the CTP release of C# and Visual Basic Codename "Orcas" Express Edition that prevents a user from creating or opening a WPF project. The user is presented with an error message, "The project type is not supported by this installation".

The patches are now available on the Express Orcas download page!

The design surface and XAML CS toolset known as Cider has moved to its ultimate home in Visual Studio "Orcas". The earlier integration into VS 2005 has been suspended, and all our attention moved forward to Orcas and completing the Cider development there, in its ultimate home.

The March CTP of Visual Studio Orcas is available now, and reflects a tremendous updgrade in the WPF development experience, as many new features have come online. Please note that the VS Orcas CTP installs (and requires) the matching CTP .NET Framework 3.5 on the developer workstation (or VPC image) where VS is installed. The WPF applications created by the March CTP of Cider will run on the retail .NET Framework 3.0 that's part of Windows Vista and as a download for Windows XP.

The Cider November CTP (Cider.NovemberCTPReleaseNotes) has been released! In conjunction with the RTM release of "".Net Framework 3.0"", we are releasing the November CTP of Cider! There are no new features in this CTP. It is an update of our September CTP bits to make them compatible with the RTM release of .Net Framework 3.0. For customers who choose to pick up the RTM release of .Net Framework 3.0, you should download this matching version of Cider. As always you can use our MSDN Forum to let us know what you think
