Lyle Dodge talks with Arjun Nagulapally, Senior Program Manager in the Sales & Marketing IT team in Microsoft about Apportal – an enterprise productivity application that integrates and enhances experience across multiple systems from CRM Online to Power BI and other internal enterprise applications.
Apportal is a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) application that is growing in usage internally at Microsoft. Apportal provides a curated role based work surface enabling connected experience. Apportal augments the experience by leveraging the concept of stitching multiple applications by encapsulating information and metadata about you and your actions into a "genie" and applies that information when you move quickly between enterprise systems to accelerate the work that you do. Think of having one immersive & configurable app that brings in all of your apps in a seamless way, and knows about each of them to make you work smarter.
Within Microsoft, other teams outside of sales are now using the Apportal's administrative portal to create other functional Apportal vertical roles. For example, Finance curated roles describing their applications and now Finance users have a single Apportal to work for each of those systems without having to go to all of them individually.
