Description

The following is a guest post from our partner CloudLink:

With the power to instantly provision Windows and Linux Virtual Machines and applications stacks, Microsoft Azure enables customers to reduce their IT cost and increase business agility while leveraging familiar tools. For many businesses however, the ability to ensure data remains private and secure is a critical concern and may prevent a move to the cloud. Common questions related to cloud migration include: Who can see the data? How is the data destroyed after use? Who has the encryption keys? How can one verify if data is really encrypted?

CloudLink, a leader in cloud security and data encryption management, has released CloudLink® SecureVM, an innovative encryption management solution that provides encryption and boot security to Windows and Linux machines (VMs) running on Microsoft Azure.

CloudLink leverages BitLocker for Windows virtual machines with a secure boot technology that eliminates the need for specific hardware while protecting the virtual machine boot process. The approach enables IT personnel to secure cloud workloads with a familiar, proven encryption solution.

A similar approach is used for Linux workloads enabling a single platform to manage encryption across operating systems and cloud workloads. Along with familiarity and ease of deployment, CloudLink affords IT departments to:

- have visibility and control over when and where their VMs are started

- have full control of the encryption keys and store them in the cloud or on-premises

- automatically validate the integrity of these virtual machines before they are allowed to boot

For key storage, CloudLink supports a number of options including Microsoft Active Directory and RSA Data Protection Manager, and plans are in place to support other third-party key repositories, providing customers the flexibility to leverage the tools and systems they deem best for their needs.

If you want to get a quick sense on how deployment works in Azure, check out the CloudLink SecureVM Azure deployment video. CloudLink SecureVM is shipping today and you can get a free trial to test it yourself within Azure or in your own Hyper-V based environment.
