Join our latest series of Bytes by MSDN as Rob Cameron interviews Brandon Watson, Director at Microsoft, responsible for ensuring that developers have all the tools that they need to be successful on the Windows Phone 7 platform. Brandon covers the many existing and future features of Windows Phone 7 and announces the Dotfuscator application, which includes Runtime Intelligence, for free, to all Windows Phone 7 developers from today through March 31, 2011.
|Brandon Watson serves as a director responsible for the developer experience of Windows® Phone 7. His responsibilities include managing the developer application platform and showcase application programs, developer marketing, and field and sales readiness for developer engagements. Before this role, Watson served on the technical marketing team for the server and tools business at Microsoft Corp., specifically focusing on developer platforms, including Windows Azure and Microsoft .NET. Before rejoining Microsoft, Watson was CEO and founder of IMSafer, a software company focused on keeping children safe online. Watson has also worked in venture capital, as a principal with Soros Private Equity Partners. He has been on the founding team of three companies, which have all sold. Watson earned dual bachelor’s degrees in economics, and systems science and engineering from the Management & Technology program at the University of Pennsylvania. Watson also earned his MBA with a focus on new venture creation and management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is married with three children, and in his free time Watson finds creative ways to bring pain and suffering to his body, including Ironman triathlons, mountain biking and playing with his children.|
|Employed by Microsoft since 2001, Rob Cameron is an Industry Architect Evangelist with Microsoft Corporation based out of Atlanta, Georgia. As part of Microsoft's Communication Sector Developer & Platform Evangelism team, Rob focuses on development tools and technologies focused on mobile devices, gaming, and embedded devices for telecommunications, cable, and media & entertainment companies. Rob co-authored several titles including Building ASP.NET Server Controls, Pro ASP.NET 3.5 Server Controls and AJAX Components, Silverlight 2 Recipes, and most recently Silverlight 3 Recipes.
