  Been checking up on this for updates nearly all day, great to hear it's finaly up and running!

  But what happends when the pizza shop becomes another store or moves? How long will it take before it updates? 
  
  How do they got rid of all the privacy stuff, like number plates of cars and faces of people, etc.?

  This is cool. It would be great if, in the future, you could create "macros" of driving directions for a virtual driving/walking tour of an area. This would be great, for instance, for tourism agencies and realators. I could even see enthusists creating specialty tours -- "my favorite hang-outs" or something along those lines; when you start taking this technology across international boundaries, it would be a great way to get a taste of someplace far away.
  
  Again, this is really cool. I can't wait to see how it evolves.

  Is it just me or is this thing very difficult to use? There seems to be a lot of misplaced images and the car keeps leeping over buildings causing me to lose my place. I'll stick to the bird's eye view for now.
  
  I must commend the team for making this cross-browser friendly though, I was worried it wouldn't work in my favourite browser, especially since even Live Mail apparently doesn't work in my favourite browser.

  The XBOX marketing people should get views from PGR3 behind a web interface like this, the 'virtual view' could just be an alternative layer to the street view.

  my compliments.  years ago a photographer shot individual pictures of buildings along a street and printed them in sequence.  I shot the main street of Colonial Williamsburg with a panorama camera that shot three buildings at a time and xxxxxxxxx projected them with a timing motor through a filmstrip projector to create the illusion of traveling down the street.  Williamsburg is so much like actually being back in Colonial times and so concentrated that it would make an  excellent demo which could be done quickly and  inexpensively.                              e   n  rpojected re

  Well, I had this same idea 6 (!) years ago, and even made such a virtual trip through the center of the village where I live (for which I took the hundreds of photos myself, and sometimes together with some friends).
  
  It's nice to see this happening on a larger scale now.

  Hey Everyone. Here is an image of a reflection of the camera van off of a DHL truck.
  
  Notice the plentitude of cameras on the top of the van. Kind of looks like an old ambulance!

  Although the work of the virtual earth team is quite impressive, I'm wondering why we, Europeans, get such a bad deal from MSFT.
  
  On http://local.live.com Brussels, Belgium is just a dot (1 million inhabitants...)
  
  On Google Earth I can almost see the cars in Brussels...
