It's fantastic to see the return of Message Board Theatre. Here's a rousing applause to the whole 10 team!
What kind of DVDs were you thinking of, Tina? hehe.

Perhaps, I should elaborate, the video ended (for me) after they finsihed discussing Aura.

For me too, when i watched it with the on site viewer. When I downloaded the video .wmv, I was able to see the whole show, including the crew "skit".

So about four months ago I saw a prototype that Google was talking about for Google mobile that would allow you to comparison shop with your "smart" device. In which they used food shopping as the example and suggested that if you were shopping in Albertsons you could scan bar code and see if it was cheaper across the street at Safeway. Now the first thing I thought was wow how much time do these people have to spare that they can go from store to store to save a few penny's. This makes sense you take picture then see info, if it’s not an impulse buy then you can go check out pricing on the web NICE! I bet the retailers HATE it. Good job on10 and good job MSR.

If they're smart, retailers *should* love this because it creates an opportunity. The opportunity to not miss an incremental sale. Think price matching for promo items. For example, if you're at Target carrying your Best Buy circular and see the same item at Target with a higher price tag. Target (and most retailers) will most likely match the price because the sale represents both incremental dollars AND/OR better inventory turn. When I was in the retail business this was Holy Grail type stuff. As a consumer this is even more exciting...letting the technology help you get the best price! Awesome stuff.

There was a company a couple years back that I worked for called BarPoint.com. They had the same idea except you'd use this PDA with and Infrared Scanner reader on top and do the same thing. BarPoint pulled in thousands of datafeeds, had millions of products but apparently no one knew about it and after 3 years the company went bankrupt everyone was laid off... Hopefully Aura does a better job at marketing.

Great instalment.... the message board theatre bit was quite funny! How did you convince the guys to all get in front of the camera? BTW, I thought Duncans was the best, short and sweet. Wasn´t that Portugese??
Ok, I´m off to collect bar codes......

One thing that should help AURA over barcode scanners is that it's utilizing what people already have...camera phones.
Or rather, only 14 left! Thanks guys

You did! Sarah Lane always combines the 'ng' together, as in 'hang', when I get a chat question in on AOTS, so I was happily surprised to hear it done right. Thanks again, love the segment by the way.

I would use that everyday. I need to get this whenever I get a new and decent cell phone. I hate going into a store and having no idea what something costs or if I am getting ripped off on a DvD

Hi all,
I like this site and everything, but I feel that the comments section could be better designed. The problem is that while watching the video if I want to read all the comments and replies to the comments and the replies to that, what is happening is that I scroll down the page and cant see the video anymore.
What is am thinking is some sort of a rolodex sort of comments section, which rolls each comment into place and you can view all the comments without having to scroll down the page, but stay in the same place and roll the comments up or down. It could be with a 3D effect, so that it will look as if the comments are really rolling on a cylindrical surface.
This is just an idea that popped into my mind. Tell me what you guys think about it.
Caio.

We've thrown around the idea of adding an optional scrollbar on the right so you can scroll up and down, but haven't had time to implement this feature and we'd like to hear what everyone thinks.
Thanks for the feedback!
The mail-reading at the end of the AURA vid is a hoot. Scott Davis made Italian/Spanish (?) sound like Japanese. Don't quit your day jobs guys. Oh, this is your day jobs.
So what I want to know is what is this Vole business, as in Microsoft the Vole. Inquiring minds want to know. Time for some investigative reporting.

Maybe instead of having the comments scroll, have the video slide down with you... although that may have some visual bugginess associated with it depending on how it's done...

Well, I actually download the segments, instead of streaming them, but I agree with Rohan.
I support the scroll feature, Erik. I think that's a great idea. Right now, there is alot of negative space on the home page.
I understand the website is new and that it will probably go under some changes in the future.
Maybe, have some more 10 content, such as articles (technology headlines?) and other readable material (maybe, extra stuff about the show and the 10 team, etc).
I'll try to brain-storm some other ideas for the comments/video.
Finally, I'd just like to request an option for us to edit our comments.
Thank you for taking the time to read our suggestions.

It's Friday (well, it's Saturday, now). I need a beer.
I like the Aura video, especially the MessageBoard Theatre. I need a beer.
The MessageBoard Theatre was cool, because it had silly comments posted by people, probably like this one you're reading, right now.
Why are you reading this, right now? The subject is "I need a beer," do you care if I need a beer?
You want to me to get drunk and see what I will type? That wouldn't be appropriate, this is a place about technology. I need a beer.
I don't know if this is a poem, but I don't care. I need a beer.
I hope Tina doesn't go on "Maury" and have Maury Povich reveal the DNA results. Oblivion owns.
I'm now too tired to have a beer.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder what kind of tat Laura is sporting? Looks sort of like one of those barbed-wire around the arm deals.

Hmmm...I guess I shouldn't be typing at 2 am. What was I thinking? I'm still trying to figure out why I woke up in a dumpster, this morning...

I think there is a place in society for this tool, but then again, its a small small place..
Because if i seen someone in a store holding a product up to themselves trying to get a picture of a bar code, i would just think they look stupid.
If this software is easily available for download through cell phone carriers im sure it will sell because people buy all sorts of stuff, but how often will you use it, once a year?
