Database workloads clustering has been typically associated with SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups for almost seven years, though the license is still quite expensive. At the moment once can build Microsoft SQL Server cluster with the Standard license and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances, getting database high availability at lower expense.
