While Joel Spolsky, co-founder and CEO of Stack Overflow, was recently in town we talked about the early days of Stack Overflow, building the platform on the Microsoft stack and some of the interesting developments along the way. We also went into detail on some of Stack Overflow's newest products like Developer Story and Documentation. Announced this week, Developer Story aims to be a new take on the traditional resume in which developers highlight what matters most to them. We also dove into Stack Overflow Careers, which helps developers and recruiters connect through Stack Overflow and serves as a way for developers to "level up" their careers.

    The Discussion

I prefer MSDN forums in that I never get the dreaded "this question was already asked"  response.  When I search in google, stack overflow answers always come back on top.  Does stack overflow pay google to have its content listed at the top of search results?

@SteveRichter: So you search, Google returns an answer on Stack Overflow, and then you want to ask the same question? No wonder you get "this was already asked" as a response.

For example, out of the 181 pages of [c] realloc questions someone already answered any possible question. The real problem isn't your new question being rejected, it is that no one has been ruthless enough eliminating the rest of the useless duplicates.
