Description

A few weeks ago here at Microsoft was official MASHUP DAY!  A day where all great Microsoft minds met and brainstormed on some innovative ways to search.  There was a DJ, booze and of course the ever so popular chocolate fondue fountain.  And not to mention lots of great ideas colliding together in the hopes of creating the next big thing.  I was invited down by Jon Pincus and was incredibly impressed and inspired by both the ideas and the openness.  I put together this fancy little video so you can see that not only does Microsoft put out some of the greatest software in existence, but the people that create it, like to have a beer just like the rest of us.

Check out the team's space at http://adastra-experience.spaces.live.com

The results from this and future mashup days will be coming to Live Gallery, Live Ideas, dev.live.com, CodePlex – and hopefully Slashdot!

That's really cool, we need to do that at our work.  I think too often we get caught up in the day to day at the office.

I swear, if the weather wasn't so god-awful in Seattle, I'd love to work for Microsoft. I'm amazed you two ladies are able to adjust so well moving from sunny CA.

I kind of like the cold and the rain. I'm a winter/fall person. Of course I'm sure Atlanta winters are a tad different than Seattle ones.

You say that like we actually have time to look outside and see that it's raining.  Tongue Out

Ok, we have time, but still, we're inside most of the time.  Honestly, I've grown to like the rain over the last year here.  The summer is so dry that the first time it really rained at the beginning of fall, my wife and I were like..."aaahhh...much better now!" and opened all our windows to listen to it.  We're freaks, I know.  Tongue Out

I love the fall and winter...my favorite seasons.  I'd love to move up Northwest and might even try to do just that after school.  The only downside to Washington is the rainy season.  Yeah, that becomes snow, which I don't mind, but incessant rain drives me crazy.  I need to go off-roading on trails that aren't so muddy.

It's good to see that Microsoft isn't all stuffy and tight shirts. Creative and technical people need outlets where they can come together and express themselves and out of that new products can be made. I think this "mashup" idea is brilliant and I so totally want to be at that party.

I had that on my calendar... wish I'd gone and dragged my OpenSearch cohort with me.  Oh well, I'll be sure to check out the next one.
