In this Containers Channel Episode, Mike Coleman from Docker, walks you through the initial configuration of Windows Server Containers, using Docker, running on Microsoft Azure. In the video, Mike quickly spins up a new WSC from a Dockerfile, and shows how easy it is, with minimal commands, to start a container with pre-configured opened ports and running executables.

One thing that's not covered in the video, is the need to open your firewall in both Azure (for your Containers VM, endpoint TCP 80, detailed here) and also inside the VM itself.  For the VM itself, you can use this command:

if (!(Get-NetFirewallRule | where {$_.Name -eq "TCP80"})) {
     New-NetFirewallRule -Name "TCP80" -DisplayName "HTTP on TCP/80" -Protocol tcp -LocalPort 80 -Action Allow
    -Enabled True
