Blackboard and Microsoft Team Up on New Offering for Students

Blackboard Inc., the educational technology company whose software system is used across campuses worldwide, recently announced a partnership with Microsoft. The purpose of the alliance is to deliver new integrations into the Bing toolbar which will alert students to updated course material when it becomes available through the Blackboard Learn platform. This will make it easier for students who now have to log into Blackboard several times throughout the day to check for assignments, grades, announcements, and other sorts of information. With “Blackboard Learn for Bing,” these updates will arrive directly in their web browser instead and there will be no need to actually log into Blackboard to see them.

“Blackboard Learn for Bing” will work in both Internet Explorer and Firefox, says the company, and updates will appear in real-time. No word yet on when this toolbar integration will be made available.
