The Bing Team has just introduced a new “mapplication” (or Bing Maps application if you don’t like my abbreviated term) which features a layer for National Geographic’s “Global Action Atlas.” This app lets you see, on the map, what areas of the world need help and what kind of help they need. Within the app, there are 6 themes that include their own sub-categories, including Conservation, Humanitarian, Cultures, Exploration, Climate Change and Energy. Click on any theme to see pins placed on the map with pop-ups that link to news and other relevant information for that topic. You can select checkboxes to turn the themes off and on, or select them all.
If you want to actually help with any of these causes, click the “read more” link to be connected with organizations and projects. Donations made to these groups will go through the GlobalGiving Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 organization.
The Atlas is also available on National Geographic’s own website, too.
