As of Friday August 28th, Microsoft slashed the price for the Xbox 360 Elite mode to $299, which is $100 less than what it previously sold for. The cut is an attempt to attract new buyers and it will also help simplify the product mix as the Xbox Pro model will be phased out at the same time. The Pro model will sell for $249.99 while supplies last and then it will be no more. Afterwards, only the Elite and the Arcade models will remain which will make it a lot easier for buyers to determine which one they want. The Arcade will continue to stay at the entry-level price point of $199.99, attracting the cost-conscious shoppers. Meanwhile the Elite model will appeal to those wanting the “full Xbox experience.” If you’re not sure which Xbox is right for you, you can refer to this handy online comparison chart of features. Just ignore the middle column since that’s the one which will be gone soon.
