Office Add-in (VSTO) Performance Tips & Tricks

Enjoy,

It looks like there'll be a slight learning curve to learn how to call the right pieces, but this can really cut down on development and increase consistency.
I smell the re-birth of Shadow Applications!
It seems you're mp4 encoder is a bit off? sound is great, but video having major issues.
Hi,
Can you elaborate? What application + OS are you using to watch the the MP4 and what are the video issues, exactly? Thanks!

We have a bunch of departmental apps (.NET 1.1 and some VB6) which I want to bring into the new world. They haven’t had a refresh in a long time, and I want to see how fast I can get the same app working in the same way using LightSwtich
Great presentation. Beth is a pretty smart girl and cathes up quickly
This product is really going to push Silverlight into the market.

Thanks! My mom always tells me that too.
Looking forward to your feedback once the beta is released Aug 23rd!
I have a couple of questions to ask the team. Could you tell me who I should post my questions to?
Thanks!
..Ben
Your video feed stops, loads, plays repeatedly... Not pleasant to watch! Thanks!
Hi Ben,
You can ask questions in the LightSwitch Forums -- the team is hanging out here answering:

Thanks for the feedback!
Hmm.. I'm not seeing that. Sometimes I have better luck downloading the low res WMV under downloads.
This video bring me fond memories of Microsoft Acropolis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_codename_%22Acropolis%22). Does LightSwitch use CAB or Prism behind the scenes?
Just in case someone wonder what Acropolis were: http://windowsclient.net/acropolis/
Hi guercheLE,
No, LightSwitch isn't dependent on these frameworks but you will see similar patterns. Take a look at this post and the comments on the team blog - I think it will answer your questions:
Cheers,

Beth,
I have really enjoyed your videos on visual basic, wpf, etc. I really hope someone fixes this video, The buffer plays for less than twenty seconds and I really can not understand what is happening. I would greatly appreciate if someone would fix this issue. My computer has windows 7 and the latest wmv player. Please pass on this information
Beth and Joe, thank you for this video. It really shows in practical terms how extending LightSwitch apps is more than a rhetorical talking point. Its real and it's practical. And it's also not that hard.
Yes - I've had the same experience. Very frustrating to watch.
its better to download the video than watching it online
maybe the silverlight team should improve their video rendering,
Gr8 work
Trying to see full screen brings up a Silverlight message. Try to answer it anyway crashes the browser displaying a sad face probably created using Expression Blend.
