Description

A large percentage of the best Smartphone applications are those that leverage the Internet to deliver real time contextually relevant, interactive data in a compelling manner. All of these applications depend upon the extensibility of the platform’s networking stack. In version 8, Windows Phone moved to share a common core with Windows 8, and there are a large number of ways in which developers can write common networking code that can be leveraged to deliver experiences on both types of devices.

      Note that in order to use the HttpClient portable library in Visual Studio 2012, you need to be running the latest version of the NuGet package manager. You can update it (if necessary) from the Tools -> Extensions and Updates menu item.
