Developers today use a variety of tools to get their development done, from IDEs like Visual Studio, to specialized tools like editors, command line tools ,and standalone apps. As part of providing cross-platform tools for ASP.NET 5, cross-platform .NET, Typescript, and Node, we're taking a fresh look at development experiences, and tools architecture. We're exploring new development experiences, and ways to build tools capabilities openly, to integrate with a variety of tools, from IDEs to editors such as Sublime Text and Emacs. And, for the first time, we're building development tools that run on Windows, OSX, and Linux. In this talk, Erich Gamma will demonstrate the new experiences we're building, and take a deep look at how the new tools and services are being constructed.
