In the ideal world, we've got capacity plans for everything, and infrastructure in place based on those:but in real life, it's not always that clear-cut. In this session, we look at three SQL Server tools that can help you allow your databases to cope: Stretch databases, to let your SQL database hold just the core data, with old/cold data that continues to grow sidelined transparently; sharding, to spread an application's data and workload across multiple Azure databases, and elastic pool, to give Azure databases access to a communal resource pool, and enhance their ability to cope with large demand spikes
