Eric Chu is a program manager on the SQL Server Manageability team. Before joining Microsoft in 2008, he received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was advised by Professor Jeff Naughton. His research interests pertained to database management, especially relational database support for sparse data. During his graduate studies he also spent several summers as a research intern at IBM Almaden and Microsoft Research. He got his Bachelor in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington in 2003. Outside of work he enjoyed swimming, playing badminton, and exploring other cultures via traveling, sampling different cuisines, and learning foreign languages.
