Carl Edlund is a Partner Development Lead on Internet Explorer, currently responsible for Web Developer Tools. He has spent has 30 years of professional development experience building platforms and tools to enable development communities and extending underlying system capabilities. At Microsoft Since 1996, Carl was responsible for the Web Development Platform and improving the HTML5 implementation for IE8, 9 and 10. Before that, he was the Development Manger for the Microsoft Simulations Game Studio (shipped titles included: Flight Simulator, Combat Flight Simulator, and Train Simulator). Initially at Microsoft, Carl was a senior developer architecting and implementing much of the DHTML, Layout, and Printing infrastructure in IE 4, 5 and 6. Carl went through the Ph.D. program at the University of Pittsburgh in Information Science focused on UI design for Industrial Automation and later turned a lifelong interest in philosophy and religion into a Ph.D. in Comparative Religions from Universalist Seminary: Phoenix.
