Outside of her duties as the Member of Parliament for Taupō, Louise Upston resides south of Cambridge, with her family. The responsibility of family life is where it begins. In October 2014 Louise was appointed Minister for Land Information, Minister for Women, Associate Minister of Local Government, and Associate Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment. Louise is not one to shy away from responsibility. Before entering Parliament in 2008 she founded her own management consultancy firm at 19, with clients including Air New Zealand, Russell McVeagh and Datacom Group. She went on to gain a MBA from Waikato Management School and hold directorships in a number of trusts and companies. Louise commits any free time to events such as the Round the Lake Relay, the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge, and the 63.3 km challenge - three half marathons in three months. Her role as co-captain of the Parliamentary netball team shows that her other commitments are never far away.
