Mark Walker currently leads the Vertical Market and Insights research and consulting practice at IDC MEA. With over 25 years of experience in the information technology and telecommunications industry, Walker is responsible for leading analyses of technology markets across the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. Mark has held various technical and managerial roles before embarking on a career in technology sector research and consulting in 1996. He has participated in over 150 consulting assignments and established benchmarks for on-going analysis of the African IT market. Most recently, Walker spent two years with Microsoft Gulf, where he was responsible for competitive strategy development and implementation. Walker has a diploma in telecommunications engineering while with the Air Force, a BA in communications and sociology at the University of South Africa, and a MAP (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand. He also completed an IMM Certificate (first class) in marketing management at Damelin College.
