Description

Most of today's high scale properties are built with the SOA paradigm. The data scale-out mechanism of SOA is partitioning and the stateless N-tier model delegates the partitioning problem to the storage layer. Orleans is a programming model and runtime that targets developers who are building interactive services that must be scalable and reliable. It is actor-based, the actor model brings OOP back to the system level with actors appearing to developers very much like the familiar model of interacting objects. Orleans is a project from Microsoft Research XCG that is used in production for Halo 4. This session will explain the principles of Orleans and the Orleans framework
