Description

The session will explain virtualization, the benefits and the technology landscape to enable MOSS experts to design, architect, implement and maintain virtual MOSS farms. The session will provide balanced guidance and recommendations for implementing Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 in virtualised scenarios, from the physical hardware layer, virtualization platform layer to the guest operating system layer. The decisions around each of these layers affect the overall performance of every virtual machine in the data centre, and therefore the overall performance of your MOSS farm. Lastly the session discusses common MOSS virtualization deployment scenarios, from non production environments such as developer, test, and staging through to an example medium-large enterprise production environment. The presentation will include demonstrations of Windows Hyper-V and System Centre Virtual Machine Manager 2008. This presentation is for information technology (IT) infrastructure specialists who are responsible for planning, designing, implementing and maintaining a Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V physical and virtual server infrastructure for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. These specialists include consultants, internal IT architects, and others who are concerned with designing and governing virtualized environments.
