By the time you read this abstract, the demand for 64-bit Windows servers will require all IT administrators to be aware of the ins and outs of 64-bit computing. Driven by the need to deploy the 64-bit Windows OS to support applications such as Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, what are the challenges you'll face when moving down the 64-bit road: what does this mean for your 32-bit applications? Will they work and how? Will they perform better or worse? Should you leverage the x64 architecture or move to Itanium? What's really the difference between the two? And how does Windows Server 2008 support either architecture? This session explains the most important things to know about the different 64-bit Windows architectures and why you should care about them. Special focus is placed on 32-bit compatibility challenges and solutions as well as discussing deployment scenarios for the 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008.
