Windows has a completely asynchronous programming model to ensure that apps stay responsive. This makes it more critical than ever to master async programming, and luckily C# and Visual Basic make that easy to do. We explore asynchrony from first principles in a simple Windows Store app, building up through cancellation, coordination of concurrent async activities, and offloading of CPU-intensive work through the Task Parallel Library.
