In this session we cover the new features coming in SQL Server which allow for the DAX query language over traditional OLAP cubes. This new feature of Analysis Services allows users to unlock value in their existing cubes by bring the data out using simpler and easier DAX queries over the more complicated MDX queries. This also allows newer reporting tools like PowerView to natively access cubes too and unlock their existing multi-dimensional investment. We look at query differences and capability ,as well performance comparisons between them as we demonstrate a scenario which includes SharePoint 2013, PowerView, DAX and OLAP.
