Complex Maintenance Using Windows 2012 and System Center 2012 SP1 - Patching Clusters!
Experience has taught that the application of Software Updates to Failover Clusters has classically been a topic of concern with many organizations. With the need for 100% uptime, or a distrust of current management solution, these complex system often require tedious and manual maintenance, or in many cases are excluded from maintenance activities all together. With the introduction of Windows 2012 Failover Clustering and System Center 2012 SP1, we now have multiple solid solutions to offer when the inevitable question is asked – “How do I reliably and gracefully apply software updates to my clustered system while ensuring 100% service uptime?”_x000D_ _x000D_ During this session, we will explore three modern methods for applying software updates to clustered systems, Windows 2012 Cluster Aware Updating, System Center 2012 Orchestrator / Configuration Manager automation, and finally System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager. Each method will be examined at a deep technical level. Please join me in this session and learn about the pros and cons of each method for applying updates to clustered system, discuss when to use one method over the others, and finally how each method fits into datacenter automation activities. This will be a demo driven - technical deep dive, so be prepared to view script samples and discuss the process at a very technical level.
