As a .NET developer, whether you're working in C#, Visual Basic or F#, the Common Language Runtime underpins everything you do. It's the basic substrate of .NET computation, providing everything from code execution and memory management through assembly loading to metadata and the type system. It's so pervasive we tend to take it for granted... at least until something doesn't work the way we expect. In this session we'll look at the inner workings of the CLR, review some common misconceptions and subtleties, and look ahead to enhancements like RyuJIT, .NET Native and the stripped-down Core CLR.
