Metrics That Matter: Real Measures to Improve Software Development
Process improvement without adequate metrics is shooting in the dark -- you might hit your target, but it's impossible to aim and difficult to determine how close you were to hitting your goal. In this session we look at how to efficiently collect data, and how and when it’s appropriate to make changes to a process to collect the right data. We then talk about several candidate metrics (Top 10 key metrics) that many real-world organizations have used to achieve real improvements and get an excellent return on investment on their metric initiatives. This talk is based on experience. I’ve applied the theory, and sometimes won, sometimes lost. Don’t miss this chance to hear the struggles, failures, and ultimately successes that have come from years of experience trying to bring change to numerous organizations, big and small. Learn from my mistakes, and walk away with concrete steps you can take today to drive real change.
