Extremely complex Excel workbooks can take hours or even days to run on a desktop system. By taking advantage of a Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 cluster, some of these Excel calculations can be greatly accelerated. This instructor-led lab explores the manner in which speadsheets using Excel 2010 can be offloaded to an HPC cluster running Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 to provide huge performance improvements. We cover the opportunities, clearly identify the types of workbooks which can benefit from this approach, and lead a class through a few examples.
