SharePoint Online supports declarative workflows when automating business processes via SharePoint Online. In this session, we develop a workflow from beginning to end to show what is possible. We design the workflow in Microsoft Visio 2010 to show the overall business process and to provide a workflow visualization. We export that diagram to SharePoint Designer 2010 in order to implement the workflow declaratively via the designer and built-in conditions and actions. Finally, we extend the workflow using Visual Studio 2010 and Sandboxed Solutions to show how custom actions and events can add power and flexibility to declarative workflows. In conclusion, we discuss workflow distribution via packaging.
