So the best way to implement your adaptive UI for continuum is switch on screensize not on device family.
How about monetizing? I feel that advertisement adaptive UI is left behind. I can't find much about how to implement this. I think many of your loyal UWP developers need income from this source.

You don't really need an emulator. Instead of thinking of screen size, think window size. As you reduce the size of the app you re-organize the placement and the layout of your app. You can see this if you resize Groove or the map app (on Windows 10).

@MaulRiEEZZZ just position and resize the advertisement based on the screen/window size that is available.

Adapting the UI of an app to a small size is also very useful on a desktop where I may not want the app to take my entire screen, makes room for other apps.

The additions to app package manifest to opt out of (mobile) continuum are actually incompatible with the tooling.

Once added it renders the manifest uneditable in the editor & generates the following warning:

The element 'Extensions' in namespace 'https://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/manifest/foundation/windows10' has invalid child element 'Extension' in namespace 'https://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/manifest/mobile/windows10'.
