Intel exec says the Godson-2 chip shows fast uptake in design prowess by the Chinese

in USA, if a company lauds their 'competitor', is it means their 'compeitor' is very weak(powerless)?
are there any plans at MS to port their OS to the Chinese CPU?

It's usually the "Little Engine that Could" syndrome. Everyone is proud that your doing it...it's a good thing for them...*blahblahblah*.

Now start taking up market share and Intel, and AMD will probably take them to court in a heartbeat or buy them out.

Will Microsoft make a compatible OS for the chipset? Once the marketshare starts developing and if Intel and AMD don't pay them to stay away MAYBE

A Linux distribution (possibly RedFlag or another Chinese company) will probably be the first to support it, much like what happened with 64-bit (Linux has supported it for much longer than Windows - is there even a 64-bit version of Windows Server?).

Why don't they develop x86-64 chips? I mean there is a massive market right there, what is the value in developing a MIPS chip that few operating systems can use?

Maybe because Windows does not support it [6]
If people in China use this, less money goes to western countries (especially USA-based ones). Possibly better for the nations economy.

maybe they got problems in tech.

But Godson-2 is aimed at other markets like set-top boxes, according to its developers, not necessarily the PC market. If it were in a low cost PC, for example, it wouldn't be able to run Windows, but it could run a Linux (Overview, Articles, Company) OS developed for its architecture.

Sounds to me like you're already all set with the new 64 bit chinese CPU. Load up the chinese version of Turbo linux from Japan on it.

Red Flag Software, also part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences who  has a better linux platform( asianux ) which co-developed by three linux companies from China, South Korea, and Japan.

The Godson  the actual significance has two point:  One is the national security, includes the national defense and the information  security, for instance technical equip, if installs is the overseas  chip, overseas as soon as is out of stock, is unable to use;  Two,  said from the industrial angle, China's electronic products and  electronic equipment if does not have own core chip, only can forever  locate the furnished raw material processing and the assembly  situation.
In PC in the kind of CPU domain, Intel and AMD is does not pass on  responsibilities " the eldest child ".  Godson appearance, for and  inserts the type domain in the server domain inscribes Chinese the  name, under the cloth the happy start.  The core intellectual property rights restriction, ever became the pain which the Chinese computer  developed.

The instruction collection is the independent development development, the compatible MIPS system, this restricted the application prospect.

The Godson absoultely is a business product, if it's really for national defnse , then we are unable to know its codename, only the president of China has the right to know there is a project named such as the 505 project, even so, he should not know what's the project about, and who are doing this job.

    i think i am right.
