    I prefer writing
    Haiku in 5.7.5
    because it's harder

    But I suppose that
    you can do whatever you
    want 'cause you began

I'm kinda having fun with this...  how about I only write on C9 in Haiku for a day or two?  (I know that's not a haiku)

... and a haiku not in response to anything here:

    Making a webpage
in Word, can't change the margins
to naught but 8 (for clarification, px)

I didn't think it was dirty...  just really random.  Karim was the one who thought it was dirty.

Why are people always saying Japanese doesn't look right next to English on XP?

Because it doesn't. The Japanese text isn't smoothed, and if you use both Japanese and Roman characters in the same sentence, especially in vertical text, it looks off.

    Example:

    XP:

    Vista:

    Zoomed:
    XP:

    Vista:

Yes, I remember that from a Bill Hill video or two... I also noticed the Japanese  characters were larger to compensate for a larger number of strokes.  I was simply pointing out that if I knew Kanji, I would have had no problem reading iStation's haiku.

My question is why does Japanese smooth on English WinXP but not on the Japanese WinXP.

None of the Japanese fonts in XP support ClearType, regardless of whether you're using the English or Japanese version. It's not a limitation of XP per se, but of the fonts; if I copy the Japanese fonts from Vista to XP, they work fine with ClearType as well (of course, Vista has had some improvements in ClearType so it still looks better there).
