Both the firmware and the software has been updated.

Apparently the firmware is for performance, there's certainly no new features.

The software finally runs on Vista.

It would have been nice if the Zune team to include a release notes file with the update. Not very social of them

Better performance sounds like a pretty nice feature to me... Tongue Out

    Windows Vista and Zune

You can download it on Microsoft Update, or go to Zune.net to get it.

Someone should let Microsoft know that sending your users regular patches isn't normal for embedded computers.

Once you've gotten over your usual sanctimonious smugness you should tell Nokia (for their phones), NetGear, LinkSys, Cisco et al(for their routers), IBM, Adaptec (for their RAID cards) and God for that huge stick up your arse.

Even Apple on the rare occasion issue firmware updates for iPods.  It's one of the reasons they brought out Software Updater on Windows as part of the new iTunes.  The last time I remember them doing it was a legal wrangle over the music being to loud and people claiming hearing loss.

Natural selection. People too stupid to realise they can turn down the volume lose their hearing, can't hear someone say "Let's make babies" and removes themselves from the gene pool.  This is a good thing.
