Uhm, but by lowering entrance requirements, you're also reducing standards.
So you're okay with there being a shortage of doctors/good programmers because there's no concerted effort to make the profession easier to practice, whether it be medicine or software development.
In my view you're approaching it wrongly.
By simplifying the profession you are not raising quality, you're simply making it easier for bad doctors/developers to practice.
You shouldn't concentrate on making the profession easier, you should concentrate on making the entrants better.
