    AMD plans to introduce new Linux drivers--based on a new code base--very soon.  AMD will also introduce open driver specifications and a basic open source driver for starters! This means it will once again be possible to develop robust open source drivers for R500 and newer video card owners.

    The new proprietary drivers will include:

    * Upto 90% OpenGL performance improvement!
    * Support for Radeon HD 2000 series (R600).
    * Support for AIGLX compositing desktops.
    * Improved overall driver stability?

    Cool, maybe we'll start seeing support for graphics on Linux.

    Why did you describe these drivers as 'proprietary'?
