Its an important update but size of the update ~33Mb. Why? What are the things it updated?

"Two weeks ago, we posted about an issue involving the calculation of numbers around 65,535 and 65,536.  As of today, fixes for this issue in Excel 2007 and Excel Services 2007 are available for download from the following locations:

    Excel 2007: http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/1/3/61343075-aa12-4152-a761-fccc16d6cef4/office-kb943075-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
    64-bit Excel Services 2007: http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/d/c/cdcccd84-86cd-4199-b01c-1df2dac66534/office-kb943076-fullfile-x64-glb.exe
    32-bit Excel Services 2007: http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/d/c/cdcccd84-86cd-4199-b01c-1df2dac66534/office-kb943076-fullfile-x86-glb.exe

KB Articles have been posted as well:

    Excel 2007: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/943075/
    Excel Services 2007: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/943076

We are in the process of adding this fix to Microsoft Update so that it will get automatically pushed to users running Excel 2007 or Excel Services 2007.  Additionally, the fix will also be contained in the first service pack of Office 2007 when it is released (the release date for SP1 of Office 2007 has not been finalized).

    Thank you for your patience,

    The Excel Team"

Weird. I wonder what caused it, and why it takes 33MB to fix it.

The version he links to is the fullfile version, which means it contains every modified file in full even if only one byte was changed instead of a difference patch.

The advantage of that is that is that you never need the product CD to install the patch. The disadvantage is that it makes the patches bigger.

If you look at the KB article you see that several files got updated and all of these are rather large files, all of which are included in full.

I thought that too.  Sad that I couldn't use WinRAR to check out what files are exactly archived in the .exe

Ah, excellent. I figured they only packaged the changes.

It's just a little interesting that in a time of Vista x64, we still have to deal with old problems like RWIN. What does this say about the state of advanced technological innovation from a corporation like MS?

Thanks for the explanation, these are the files seen in winzip.

And after the update in the add/remove prgs. it shows like this,   (KB943075)
