An ex-employee of Apple explains how the Cupertino-based Church of ShinyTech is attempting to goad Microsoft into a PR disaster, and how Redmond should respond.

    Michael Mace said:

Apple's PR miasma is also starting to twist the thinking of people in the tech industry who ought to know better. Apple's gradually becoming the yardstick against which other tech companies are measured -- and since Apple is such a unique company, it's almost impossible for anyone else to measure up

    Interesting stuff.

    I agree with him.

Less money in marketing (remember the WoW) more money in features.

Kick them where it hurts, build a better product!

    I would also add...

and then show them how to use it

I am debated: marketing is not the source of all evil. build better products, yes absolutely, but what for if customers don't know about them? Marketing should be about informig about these greate products. The important question is not IF, but HOW Microsoft should do it.

long time ago I got to know one of the best world chefs ,

was the father of a friend of my brother

I asked him, what is your secret to be the best or one of the best

    He told me

the real secret is not in the content or flavor of food ,
The important and fundamental thing is to eat the guest first with the eyes and then with the mouth

When a dish becomes a visual feast, the substance has no more.

    this is a APple Secret.

I was so irritated by the misspelling and your reposting of the misspelling - I was going to say something nasty - but then I figured it out.  :*)

That only works if your presentation lives up to the flavour.

If your presentation suggests that your flavour is devine and the flavour is bland, you will have disappointed customers. That's what I think happened with Vista.

It's a good OS. But it's not the WOW that was presented to me.

MS is like 'British' English... They are so proud of themselves what only MS itself will understand MS...
Please fix broken radio connection between MS and Earth!
Apple making products for people, MS for... <insert 'developers' here>.

If you stumbled and fell down, it doesn't mean yet, that you're going in the wrong direction.

    Exactly!

Microsoft is an enabler. Apple is an provider.

That's why I prefer the Microsoft platform, it enables me to buy bread.

As far as I know, Apple's financial problems didn't start until after Jobs left, and they climbed back out when he was re-hired.

"was the father of a friend of my brother"

This is how I'm related to Dark Helmet.
