ok ..ill admit this one is pushing it (for social forums)  but why not.
Just like the conversation and the radio threads - here is the doctor thread on c9.  use it or dont.

    ill start...

My left eye - about a week and a half ago got all blurry - like a white milky haze over everything .. just one morning ..bang.

So far i have had - as mentioned - a cat scan (no infection - no tumor)  tommorow i go for MRI
(i get to be a microwave dinner yay)

this should provide insight as to whether it is MS -(not the good ms) or stroke  (ug) or just - swelling behind the left eye (which is all we know so far)

Anyone have anything similar? post.  Anyone sick themselves?  post.  Maybe people here can help.

I view c9 as a forum of people that like ms - but a forum is a forum.  why not medical as well as music and talk?

Ideally someday there would be sections like above on any forum where there is alot of people.

people = insight.  maybe some experience the same issues or problems

Ill let you know how it goes  (maybe ill explode like a hampster Wink )

as an aside - all this is free in canada.  i waited 8 hours to get in to hospital - but once in - it is VERY efficient, professional and fast.

I still wouldnt trade our health system for any other.  - yes there are issues - but over all - everyone ive dealt with on this over 3 days - has been amazing.  and going to regular doctor is a non-issue (always available)

the only thing you end up waiting for in a "socialist medicine system" is people who need attention first.

*i waited the 8 hours becauce ambulances kept coming in with people who need imediate care ... no prob..

I havent really ever had to deal with the health system here as much as i have in last few days - so i just thought id post - you know - its pretty good.. and its free.

ps - how do you "pick" a doctor anyway?
i pick my family one..and i can go to any hosptial i want

apparently MRI's can take months.  mine took less than 48 hours

ill let you know how i come out  (toasty) Smiley

edit: for those who wish to argue health scare systems... thats cool.. but try to list whats good ...and bad.. about your countries. i tried to.

Just wanted to point out that most health care (including Canada's system) is not "free."  There may not be a direct bill to you for the services, but you, and other taxpayers, are paying.  Make no mistake about that.  The only question would be something more along the lines of "Am I getting sufficient and proficient service for the price I am paying."

I don't know if the government there let's you know your (and business) per capita tax burden for health care, but it would be interesting to know.

I have a few bad doctor story, but here's a funny one.

I was asked to take my cousin to the doctor for a checkup, and being new to the country, she didn't speak much English, so she needed a translator.

I don't like hospital, but being a nice guy (no, really) I was glad to help out.

We were waiting when the nurse waived us over to tell us it's time to go in. When I'm close enough to read the sign on the door, I sank into a hole.

    It said "OB/GYN."

Crap! This will test my translation skill as well as the ability to keep my lunch down.

Turbodad's post just reminded me of that.

jamie, relax, & drink more wine!

Did you have an eye exam first (you know, cornea, retina—with fancy optical gizmos), or did they go straight for CAT scan/MRI?

no i had tons of tests first..

anyway - some fairly GOOD news

    - MRI shows normal. bloodwork shows normal and swelling has gone done - a BIT

so.. it is looking like optical nueritis - and should - get better within a 4 / 6 weeks.

The doctor was going to put me on heavy duty side effect Steroids - but didnt.
He did say i should quit smoking imediately.

Any 9ers up for quitting smoking.. i should start a blog   Wink
