Microsoft Update, along with the new version of Windows Update (v6) has been officially released. Windows Server 2003 is already redirecting to this new version, however it seems that XP and 2000 are not yet.
Using Microsoft Update you can get updates for Windows, Office, SQL Server and Exchange at a single location, and even have critical updates for those products delivered via Automatic Updates.
Argh , I tried to use the link you gave, it downloaded some activeX components and started update , it gave me an error. Now I can't use windows update anymore ... it says they updated their software try to re-install it and no go

0x80070420 and 0x8007041D errors. I also had both errors using Windows=20
Update. This worked for me but take it with a grain of salt. Run it passed=
someone that knows whats what.
F.Y.I. Restarted and went to next step when PC asked.
Uninstalled Previous update of Windows installer 3.1
Go to Windows Update: I used Custom.
If Active X issue: Right click on yellow bar and install.
Back to Windows update: Custom and installed Update for Windows XP=20
I can now update and see my history again.
