Honestly, my handwriting is terrible, and has always been terrible.

Tell me about it, born left handed, I went to a Jewish primary school and was forced to use my right hand, which I still use to this day.

At secondary school, every page of every text you wrote had to have "A.M.D.G" in the top left hand corner, and it had to be written well, boy did I struggle in the first year or so.

    @vesuvius:

then you are lucky. Because I was born left handed in Taiwan, which uses more complex traditional Chinese and my name itself is quite complex, 32 strokes.

on top of that, I am a slower reader and writer. I constantly struggle to write down the homework list before the bell rings and forced to leave class in time.

Leaving WM on 5/2018 if no apps, no dedicated billboards where I drive, no Store name.

If I'm writing a personal letter, then I use pen and paper. If I didn't, I'd forget how to write.

As it is, my writing is getting progressively worse.  Sad

Unfortunately there are a lot of skills that people no longer learn. A disturbing number of people are no longer able to cook anything but heat-n-eat meals. They don't know how to grow their own produce or livestock. Things like basic home improvement and repair are foreign subjects.

It's like how we often have threads here about the fact that despite modern development tools abstract much away from our daily work, having a basic understanding of memory management and hardware architecture can still help us to be better developers. That isn't to say that everyone must be experts in everything, but lacking even a basic understanding is building a culture of helplessness.

If it's not diagrams or designs, I only write sometimes in my dumps journal in places like movie theaters, where I cannot use my phone, otherwise I just type. I do not write personal letters, what's that? Wink

Pros use telepathy. Beam the message directly into the recipient's head.

If anything cause enough of a society collapse that we had to go back to handwriting, we have more to worry about than how to write a cursive Q...

Some love letters I have are probably some of my most cherished possessions, I never write anything affectionate in text or email, maybe the odd "I miss you", it is quite something to try and fill a few pages with emotion and feeling, this is not a topic my avatar suggests, I am a creepy blood drinker, best change topic, people will think I have gone mad.

Lately, I've noticed that the prescription never makes it out of the doctor's office.  It's sent up to the receptionist and entered into a computer.

I guess as long as the receptionist can read the chickenscratch...

@ScanIAm: Ours get printed out in the doctor's office from the DOS-style application they use to select the drugs from -- the only scrawl is the doctor's signature.

@Dr Herbie: These days, our doctors seem to be entering their own prescriptions. They get sent electronically, but we get a signed printout when there is something controlled such as codeine cough syrup.

Maybe we'll see more Niners in the next few days now that they finally figured out how to get home.

Oh thank goodness. Finally, a maps application that can find stuff! Just a few days ago, I was lamenting how ridiculous it'd gotten to try and find a specific restaurant I wanted to eat at, because Apple Maps couldn't find it (naturally), and the Google Maps web app keeps losing the search every time the phone goes to sleep. At least now it works properly again, and even seems to have more features than before.

And public transit directions are back! Sure, I usually use Jorudan for that but that's only helpful if I already know which stations to use. And it looks like they've got buses for Tokyo as well now, which Jorudan doesn't do.

I hope everyone starts using this and that Apple Maps usage falls to zero. It's not deserving of anything better.

Now if they'd only release a maps app for Windows Phone ... Smiley

There's a 3rd party one that works well. Apparently.
