Build Pre-Conference Cancelled

    It sounds like something is already amiss around BUILD already: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-cancels-pre-conference-sessions-at-windows-8-build-event. I'm having my doubts that this will be a well organized event. I guess the lack of an agenda was the writing on the wall...

    I sure hope those who originally signed up get compensated in some way for the cost of rescheduling bookings. Maybe they thought the disclaimer "Subject to change without notice" on the "agenda" made it ok. Maybe if they run out of things to say they can cancel the last day too.

    If we all believed in unicorns and fairies the world would be a better place.

    Sounds great but I've been there done that. I was thinking more towards "Vegas". Who wants in a road trip.

    People were posting info saying that those that registered for build after it was sold out were getting cancelled, but my post-sold out registration did not get cancelled.

    Our Amex business card got a charge from U.S. TECHS 206-784-0626 WA Doing Business As:     MICROSOFT CORP EVENTS on August 2, 2011. No reversal has been noted, and I have a confirmation number for the conference.

    Again I am just stopping by to get Bill Gates's offerings to appease the people who would rather not use his software.

    BTW, Disneyland sucks. I mean that.

    Who is the conference being run by? It's obviously not Mike Swanson...

    @Harlequin: It's usually Jennifer "Ritzy" Ritzinger (The Gaffer) and Mike but the biggest problem is that any video with them would be like this "there is a conference, but we can't tell you anything"

    It a bit like going into a shop with no goods and a till, and everything is round the back. you hand over the money, and fingers crossed, you like what comes out

    Microsoft going all Apple? At WWDC no body knows what will be talked about and what will be launched and they still go...

    But to add to that analogy; would mean Steve Jobs saying some offhand remark 3 months before the WWDC, making everything think that iPhone 5 and iPad 3 will have their apps writtern in Java 2.0 instead of Objective C. And not saying anything else until the conference, to neither confirm, deny, or add to the comment. Meanwhile companies and developers have their stuff on hold because nobody can get work because they don't know what the future of the platforms are.

    They didn't respond to my tweet so I guess they are dead.

    @Harlequin: So true... so true...

    Either Build is going to be spectacular and prove me wrong 100 times over or it's going to be the start of the smaller, less important Microsoft. I really hope it's the prior but Microsoft's track record and continued leaks to the contrary doesn't support that hope. It's just a damn shame.

    U.S. TECHS 206-784-0626 WA Doing Business As:     MICROSOFT CORP EVENTS

    http://www.ustechs.com

    US Techs is a "subsidiary" of RAPID SYSTEMS, INC.

    http://www.sos.wa.gov/corps/search_detail.aspx?ubi=600599200

    Subsidiary is in quotes because it's only one person, Adrien Petersen, who is the President Secretary, Treasurer and Chairman.

    So much business related corporate indirection, just to run a tech conference. It's like those copyright lawyers that set up fake addresses all over the US to received fake DVDs without letting the "target" be the wiser. All so they can rob their clients for thousands of dollars an hour claiming that's due diligence, when really they are just billing for evidence that can be gotten for free online.

    A little research goes a LONG way.

    @IsThisReallyBeer:

    Wow I wonder how Adrien can juggle his NFL career and managing the Build conference. Maybe that's why the pre-day was cancelled?!?!? I think you're on to something here bro...

    Yeah you're right a little research goes a long way...

    Looks like U.S. Techs don't run the conference, they just handle communications, registration process, that kind of stuff. They wouldn't be the ones making sessions, sending invites to presenters, etc.
