    I'm going to release version 1.3 of the tool soon.

    I'm looking for some feedback, if you are interested in helping me out for a beta test, please drop me a line on at maddusmattus at hotmail dot com, your help and feedback are much appriciated.

    Also to celebrate the birth of my son I'll be dropping the purchase option and it will be availible for free.

    Edit;

    Apparently you cant beta test an upgrade (why not)?

    So once it get's approved I'll post the deeplink in this thread and see what holes you guys can poke into it.

    Edit2;

    It's live here; http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/7551da0c-bd88-e011-986b-78e7d1fa76f8

    Is there an option to browse the forums as well?

    Nope,..

    But if you test and provide feedback that you would like that as a feautre,.. Wink

    Coffeehouse and comments is something I would have liked to be in there, but I've been tinkering too long, it's time for a release.

    @Charles: Thanks!

    Just found a bug myself after submission,.. DOH

    You think anyone will use search?

    @Maddus Mattus: Watch this very scenario.  The time between when a customer wants to update and when they can update (i.e. time through the resub/store).  Needs to be a competitive advantage.

    @Maddus Mattus: Search is a good thing to have, yes.

    @Maddus Mattus:You need to side load it into your phone.

    Edit: Remove <a> as it doesn't work with these vs.92 Microsoft Urls.

    @Charles:The bug is in the search, you have to search twice for it to work,.. Sad

    Ah well,..

    Next update, search, comments and coffeehouse,..

    @Harlequin: Thanks, but I am not going to distribute the XAP,..

    I'll just distribute the deep link in this thread.

    Yeah, but you mentioned "you can't beta test an upgrade". You can by side loading it into your phone. That's the best way to test, and no need to put it on marketplace first.

    I expected the marketplace option also availible for updates, but alas. But with the deeplink option you can sort of do a beta without handing out the XAP.

    So, I got approved, but when I type in the deep link it still gives me the old version.

    This is turning out to be more difficult then I thought.

    @Maddus Mattus:I guess there is always the option of publishing on skydrive/dropbox or somewhere in the short term. Most of us can probably sideload it.

    @Ian2: xap distribution is like giving away the source ode, if you havent obfoscated the code or encrypted the configuration, so I am a bit conservative about that. There are some url's and api keys in there that I would like to keep under the wraps.

    Maybe next time i will just post the test version under a different name and hide that version for the public.

    The 1.3 should be availible soon. For the 2.0 I'm going for more community features, moving to table storage and going for a more modular approach in the app architecture.

    So,....

    Thoughts?

    I havn't found any issues with it yet, Maybe the Channel 9 header logo could be a bit more interesting when scrolling throughthe pages but that really is a minor point.

    Thoughts for 2.0:

    Would be good if we could log in to Ch9 for forums etc and also pick up our queued downloads in the app?

    Live tiles for new video posts (by TV Show/Series etc) would be cool.

    Incidentally are you panning on developing a WinRT App? (Maybe redundant as a result of the web site?)

    Good job!

    @Ian2: Thanks Ian!

    I've got my hands full on the WP7 version atm. So no WinRT version in the pipeline, yet!

    About some of the new features I've implemented;

    HTML from the RSS feeds get's translated to native XAML. No zooming, panning, scrolling in the Synopsis of an episode, swipe gestures also still work (smileys are a bit big, I'll work on that). Will share this control on codeplex soon.

    New smoothplayer from the smf.codeplex.com project.

    New SL Toolkit controls from codeplex.

    Search is improved (little bug, you only have to search twice, will fix it soon).

    If a poster includes a timeindex in the post, like they do on This week on Channel9, you can click the index and automatically goto that point in the video.

    Improvements in layout.

    Removal of paid version.

    For V2.0;

    Next version will use MEF and will feature coding4fun more prominently,..

    Live tiles is defenitely on my list and queued downloads also. The forum and comments are defenitly going to be a feature (it's almost finished).

    NetworkInfo.Status.Observe(onnext => if(onnext.Wifi) { resumeDownloads(); } else { pauseDownloads();}); so that your MB's don't add up so fast Wink

    Soon my Azure subscription will start billing, so I'm moving to table storage instead of SQL Azure and with the move implement the features you describe (secondairy live tiles).

    I'm also looking into a Niner's around the word and a Niner messaging feature. It's a bit tricky to get the username from the live-id, but I'll hack my way around somehow Wink Starting the WebAPI layer for the next version this week.

    I'll also implement live tiles for your favorite forum threads, but those will be agent's not server side.
