Computable Document Format (CDF)

New document format by Wolfram that looks interesting:

Looks like a new document format with focus on computation and interactivity, with no need for "programming" skills.

Comparison with other formats (PDF, Flash, JS, HTML5, Java, TeX, EPUB™ 2.01, MS Office™) [likely a biased comparison, but still...]

I like the interaction with Wolfram|Alpha whereby you can use natural language to formulate a question and then get the interactive answer back as a CDF fragment.

When Wolfram does something, "he" does it big.

The format isn't exactly free to use if you want to create commercial content though:

And there is an over-emphasis on using Mathematica as the authoring tool; and I didn't find any actual description of the format, oddly enough.

Not to be confused with the Common Data Format (CDF) which has been around since the early 90s from NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center.  Wolfram really needs a different name.

Yeah, I`m a rocket scientist wanna be, and this is really going to confuse me.
