I know it is "hip and chic" to be a anti-fanboy fanboy. But having fanatical devotees is not a bad thing at all. It's good to have people who will buy your products no matter how much they suck or are generally non-competitive. Apple relied on their devotees to help them survive through hard times for instance.
It is dangerous however, for the employees of a company to be overly fanatical of their work, because they lose the ability to perceive failure and ignore or attack criticism.
